Under REACH, the responsibility is firmly on suppliers to ensure that their customers are supplied with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), exposure scenarios and other critical safety information, often with the requirement to actually deliver and update at regular intervals, rather than simply sending these documents. In addition the requirement to ensure that all internal personnel, that may come into contact with hazardous materials, are also provided with the most current (M)SDS, exposure scenarios etc. has increased record keeping and increased already time consuming tasks.......

chemicals has now been in place for five years and several
important milestones in its implementation have already passed.

Reach: Safety Data Sheet Management an Issue for
Smaller Companies
At the European Commissions
Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (Reach)
registration conference in September the European Chemicals
Agency introduced a new campaign, Reach 2013 Act Now!, in a
bid to ensure that chemical manufacturers, importers and
downstream users start preparing for the May 31, 2013 Reach
registration deadline now. One of the notable factors about the
2013 registration is that a far greater number of small and
medium sized enterprises (SMEs) will be affected.
